Leo Estvad studied at the Art Academy in Copenhagen and was a pupil of Aksel Jorgensen.  He traveled extensively to Paris, Germany, and Holland in the 1920s and later to Italy and Belgium.  Estvad exhibited extensively from 1930 onward and is represented in several
museum collections in Denmark.

GOTTFRID OLSSON

Gottfrid Olsson trained at the school of Caleb Ahltins and also at the Art Academy in Copenhagen.  He traveled widely,
including trips to Italy, France, and
Holland. Olsson produced both landscapes and urban scenes, many of which show
distinct French influence.

Hugo Ofverstrom studied at Valand’s School of Art and was a pupil of Birger Simonsson.  A diverse painter, he was best known for his vibrant scenes of the Bohuslan archipelago near Gothenburg.

Kongshammer trained at Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen but worked almost entirely in Paris.  He painted in a distinctive post-impressionist style using heavy impasto.

Mark Dockree was a Victorian-era landscape painter who lived in London.  He exhibited extensively at the Royal Academy, the R.O.I., and the Royal British Academy.  This work retains a fine period hand-gilded frame.

William C. Fitler was born in Cincinnati and studied at the PAFA.  He worked extensively in the northeast, especially New York, and was primarily a tonalist painter.  He exhibited extensively, including entries at the Art Inst. of Chicago, the NAD, the PAFA, and the Allbright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY.  This work depicts a farm that appears in other works by the artist.
